Putting People First in Georgia’s 1st Congressional District

From Community Organizer to National Leader

Amanda Hollowell is a nationally recognized political strategist and the Chief of Campaigns at Color Of Change, the country’s largest online racial justice organization. She brings decades of experience in organizing, advocacy, and leadership to the campaign trail, but her roots remain firmly planted in Georgia’s 1st Congressional District.

Amanda has led transformative campaigns for voting rights, economic justice, and healthcare across the South and beyond. She’s mobilized thousands of volunteers, managed multimillion-dollar initiatives, and helped push progressive policies from ideas into action. Currently, she is the Chief of Campaigns at Color Of Change. Previously, she directed national organizing efforts at When We All Vote and led campaign strategy at the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute and 9to5 Georgia.

Her leadership has earned recognition from outlets like Essence, Forbes, USA Today, and Black Enterprise, and awards from organizations like Georgia Trend Magazine, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Savannah Business Journal Generation Next Award.

But Amanda’s most important title? Mom and caregiver. Her son, Joah, a proud graduate of Savannah’s public school system and a college student-athlete, and she, the full-time caregiver for her father, who is also a veteran, remain her greatest motivation and biggest joy.

Why She’s Running

Amanda is running to put power, policy, and progress back in the hands of the people. Georgia Congressional District 1 deserves more than empty promises and partisan talking points. We deserve a representative who knows our communities and fights for them.

Her platform is rooted in the everyday needs of Southeast Georgians:

  • Public Education and Good Jobs

Every child deserves a quality education that leads to opportunity, starting with early learning and ending with local job training and apprenticeships.

  • Affordable Living

People who work in the First Congressional District should be able to live in the First Congressional District. That means higher wages, affordable housing, and economic investment that centers families and workers.

  • Healthcare for All

Our seniors, veterans, rural families, and working people deserve accessible, affordable healthcare and Medicaid expansion.

  • Port and Worker Advocacy

Port workers keep our economy moving — they need a Congresswoman who will fight for fair pay, union rights, and federal infrastructure dollars.

  • Climate Resilience

From hurricanes to flooding, our coastal communities need prevention and protection, not just disaster response.

  • Voting Rights and Democracy

Amanda believes in a democracy that works for everyone, from parents to seniors to young first-time voters. That means expanding access, not rolling it back.

Community-Rooted, Movement-Tested

Amanda believes in being a servant to her community. For the past thirteen years, she has served on the Savannah Black Heritage Festival Committee. She has also served on the boards of Reform Georgia, the League of Women Voters of Coastal Georgia, and the Georgia Alliance for Social Justice. She revitalized 9to5 Working Women in Georgia, relaunching the Savannah Chapter with 60 members. She is a proud member of the Savannah (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and a graduate of the Georgia WIN List Leadership Academy.

Amanda holds a B.A. in American Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a lifetime of experience building coalitions, speaking truth to power, and delivering real results for working people.

This Moment Demands More

Amanda is not waiting on permission; she is stepping into this moment with purpose, clarity, and courage. Southeast Georgia deserves better, and Amanda Hollowell is ready to deliver.

“I believe we should live in a First Congressional District that puts its people first.”

“We don’t need more career politicians. We need people who want to work, who want to fight, and who understand what it takes to build something, not just tear it down.”
